In addition to the new site in Dörth, SCHOTTEL also operates a production site in Wismar. The Wismar subsidiary specializes in the development and production of particularly large propulsion systems. It is where larger rudder propellers, retractable and underwater mountable rudder propellers as well as controllable pitch propellers are made. CP propellers can achieve outputs up to 30 megawatts and propeller diameters up to 8 metres.
Wismar has also established itself as an important service location. Service Center Nord is available to carry out all repairs on SCHOTTEL propulsion units. An on-site service warehouse and state-of-the-art mechanical production keep repair times to a minimum.
The construction of ship propulsion systems has a long tradition at the Wismar site. In fact, controllable pitch propellers have been manufactured there since the early 1960s. After being taken over by SCHOTTEL in 1999, the site was developed into a most modern production facility. There are now seven production and storage halls available for the manufacture of the propulsion units covering an area of 15,000 m².
