Christchurch based Lyttelton Port Company Ltd. (LPC) holds the title as the largest port in the south island of New Zealand.
SCHOTTEL received an order for thrusters for a new harbour tug to be built for Christchurch based Lyttelton Port Company Ltd. (LPC). The port holds the title as the largest port in the South Island of New Zealand.

The decision was made for a Robert Allan RApport 2500 design and the vessel will be built by ASL Marine Shipyard Singapore. She will enter operations and take over from LPC’s older tug “Purau”. She will be assisting in the safe and efficient berthing/departure of ships calling Lyttelton Port. In order to fulfil these duties, the tug will be equipped with two SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers type SRP460 FP with an input power of 2,240 kW each. “It is a great honor for SCHOTTEL to be part of this project and we are proud that close collaboration with our customers shows that partnership counts more than just a one-time sale”, says Mohamed Ghonem of SCHOTTEL Australia.
