The recently delivered trawler “Argos Cíes”, constructed at Nodosa shipyard in Spain, is equipped with SCHOTTEL propulsion systems: one controllable pitch propeller and one transverse thruster from SCHOTTEL enable the vessel to achieve optimal manoeuvrability and propulsion efficiency. With a length of 74 m and a width of 14 m, “Argos Cíes” is the largest fishing vessel ever built at the Galician shipyard. Operated by Jupiter Fishing Company, the newly built trawler is mainly used to fish for squid in the South Atlantic. The project was realized in close cooperation with REINTJES España, SCHOTTEL's important partner on the Spanish maritime market.
“Argos Cíes” is powered by a 3,000 kW Wärtsilä 6L32 main engine which drives a SCHOTTEL Controllable Pitch Propeller type SCP 100 4-X with a propeller diameter of 4,000 mm. In addition to this, the stern trawler is equipped with an electrically driven SCHOTTEL Transverse Thruster type STT 1 FP which provides an input power of 400 kW. In combination, the systems offer best propulsion efficiency by matching the respective operation profile of the fishing vessel.

State-of-the-art calculation methods ensure that each SCP is optimally adapted to hydrodynamic conditions. In this way, the operator benefits from a high degree of efficiency – leading to lower operating costs and reduced fuel consumption. In addition, the robust design of the SCP keeps maintenance requirements to a minimum and ensures a long service lifetime.
